Farewell the Year of the Tiger, and Welcome the Year of the Rabbit - The Confucius Classroom in Iasi EuroEd School Held an Immersive Cultural Experience for the Chinese New Year.

　　The festive atmosphere of the New Year hasn’t given way, and the rhythm of a new life is within the air.

　　From January 19th to 27th, 2023, the departments for elementary and secondary students of the Confucius Classroom at the Iasi EuroEd School under the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest held a two-week event of the Chinese traditional culture, in which more than 230 students and more than 10 local teachers participated.

　　Wang Shurong, an international volunteering Chinese teacher, and Maria, a local Chinese teacher, decorated the public area of the school and each classroom with Chinese-style decorations-sticking the window paper-cuts and “Fu”(a Chinese character for blessings), hanging the Chinese knots and red lanterns, to create a rich atmosphere of the Chinese New Year.

　　Students proactively took part in various cultural activities, including the calligraphy practicing, the paper cutting, the red envelope folding, the fan drawing, the bean picking with the chopsticks, and friendly matches of table tennis. The students also asked to put on traditional Chinese costumes such as Qipao(cheongsam) and Magua(mandarin jacket), and held round fans or folding fans. The teachers and students celebrated the Chinese New Year with cheers and laughter. Wang Shurong also performed the traditional Chinese dance and Peking Opera, which pushed the whole event to a climax and received the unanimous love of all the teachers and students.

　　The Spring Festival has always been the most important festival for the Chinese people. The international Chinese teachers brought Chinese Spring Festival to Iasi, allowing the students to experience the Chinese New Year in an immersive way and to celebrate the most important Chinese festival.

　　At the beginning of the New Year the volunteering Chinese teachers received great love for the Chinese culture (from the students) through a variety of cultural activities. In the New Year, we wish everything goes well and a greater progress for the international Chinese educational path in Romania.
