With the coming of the spring, everything begins to renew. At 9 a.m. local time on January 21st, the Confucius Classroom at the Colegiul National “Ferdinand I”Bacau under the Confucius Institute at the University of Bucharest held a series of Spring Festival activities. Some teachers and students from this Confucius Classroom at the school took part in this event in the joyful festive atmosphere with laughter and delight.

At the start of the event, the Chinese teacher You Jie introduced the Chinese Zodiac to Romanian students with a Romanian subtitled video about the origin of the Year of the Rabbit. The classic Chinese Zodiac story was full of exciting ups and downs and was deeply loved by the Romanian students.

Then the Chinese teacher Wang Hong introduced the customs of the Chinese Spring Festival to the students, including buying new year's commodities, sweeping the dust (in the house), sticking the Spring Festival couplets (onto door frames), setting off the firecrackers, and greeting others with new year's wishes, etc. She also played a video about the customs of the Spring Festival and the students watched them with keen interest.

In order for the students to further experience the festive atmosphere of the Chinese New Year, Wang Hong organized two games including the bean-picking and the “Fu” (blessings)-writing. Each student participated in a tense yet animated atmosphere with smile on everyone's face.

In addition, the two teachers also prepared the New Year’s red envelopes with adorable rabbits inside for the students. To get a red envelope, the students had to learn to greet their teacher in Chinese. With the clear and standard “Happy New Year” (in Chinese) in the classroom one after another, the red envelopes representing blessings were distributed to each student.
